🔥 Ready to Smoke Some Tires?
Welcome to the Freedom Factory Drag Strip Challenge
A high-energy, hands-on adventure where teens come together to transform an ordinary Kia into a track-ready drag car — with one bold mission:
💥 Drive it onto the legendary strip at the Freedom Factory.
This is real-world learning with real horsepower. From turning wrenches to capturing every moment for HOHRacingTV, this project brings racing dreams to life — one session at a time.
🎬 And yes — the cameras are rolling from the very beginning.
🎯 What’s This Really About?
This isn’t some make-believe school project.
It’s a real car. A real garage. And a real shot at building something wild enough to earn its place on Cleetus turf.
We’re starting with a neglected Kia and wrenching our way toward track glory — one bolt, one busted knuckle, one filmed moment at a time. Engine. Suspension. Chassis. Branding. Teamwork. This is Phase One of a multi-stage build — filmed for HOHRacingTV.
If we do this right?
🔥 That Kia’s ending up on the drag strip at the Freedom Factory.
🧠 Real Build. Real Skills. Real Stakes.
This is a slow-build, smart-goal, team-based transformation — not a crash course. We don’t promise horsepower we haven’t earned yet.
Phase One: Strip it. Learn it. Build it right.
Phase Two: Add power. Tune for burnout passes.
Phase Three: If it earns it — Freedom Factory or bust.
🔄 Real Phases. Real Time. Real Results.
This isn’t a "build-it-in-a-weekend" show. It’s a real garage, and that means real timelines.
We’ll start with:
🧩 Phase One: Strip it. Learn it. Build it right.
- This phase is all about the foundation: learning the parts, tearing down the car, diagnosing issues, and planning a safe, smart build.
- Some teams may get further than others — but all will walk away with real mechanical skills, a build plan, and footage for HOHRacingTV.
⚙️ Phase Two: Add power. Tune for burnout passes.
- This phase focuses on rebuilding and modifying — once you’ve earned your stripes.
- We’ll invite select returners to continue the project as they progress.
🏁 Phase Three: If it earns it — Freedom Factory or bust.
- If the car — and the crew — are ready, we’ll move to racing prep and submit our footage for a shot at Cleetus’s turf.
📅 Note: Most crews will need 2 or more cycles through Phase One before they’re ready to move on. That’s not a delay — that’s the grind. 💪

📣 Why Parents Love the Gear-Up Car Series:
🚗 A Real Car. A Real Team. A Real Future.
Tired of seeing your teen glued to their phone, aimless, or just not motivated by school or sports?
The Gear-Up Car Series is more than a program — it’s a turning point.
🔧 What Teens Get (and Parents Notice):
✅ Up to 45+ hours of screen-free, hands-on, brain-on learning
✅ Real-world mechanical skills (yes, even if they’ve never touched a wrench)
✅ Confidence from building something that actually moves
✅ Teamwork, leadership, and problem-solving in a real garage
✅ Filming and storytelling for HOHRacingTV — creative + technical
✅ Guidance from real builders, not just lectures
✅ Two tickets to a Freedom Factory event (meet other racers, feel the energy)
✅ A story to tell — and a project to be proud of
🎯 Why It Works:
Screen Replacement, Not Just Restriction
→ They’re still using tech — but now it’s to film, edit, create, and build their story.
→ They leave the garage with skills and footage they’re proud of.
Purpose Over Punishment
→ Whether they love mechanics, filming, or just need a path — we meet them where they are.
→ This is for kids who need something real to care about — not more rules.
Not School. Not Camp. Something Better.
→ Real-world problem-solving with real teammates.
🧠 Long-Term Benefits:
- Teaches life-ready and job-ready mechanical skills
- Builds emotional grit, focus, and self-efficacy
- Opens paths to real race events, sponsorships, and careers
- Replaces screen time with mission-driven momentum
📋 Rules & Policies:
Missed Sessions: Make-ups for documented emergencies may be offered (if space allows)
Media Release Required: All participants must sign a media waiver (parent/guardian if under 18)
Safety is Mandatory: This is a real garage with real expectations
Real Builds = Real Consequences: Progress is earned through respect, effort, and consistency — not just attendance.
Scholarships: Limited scholarships are available through our nonprofit partner, TheOtherSideOfTheFence.org, for teens enrolled in the HighOctane Heroes Program. If cost is a barrier, ask how to apply — spots will go fast!
🎬 Why We’re Filming This:
This project is more than just building a drag car — it’s about making the racing dream real and accessible for young people who’ve never had a roadmap.
Through every filmed session, we’re capturing the entire process from the ground up — how to get started in racing when you have no experience, no sponsors, and no idea what comes first. From garage prep to vehicle mods, licensing, safety, and track rules — it’s all here, unfiltered.
Jamie and Trevor are walking through it all on camera, not as pros, but as learners — so future teen racers and crew can follow along, see the path, and know exactly what it takes.
Because nobody hands you a race team.
You build it — one bolt, one mistake, and one victory at a time.
🔒 Prerequisite:
✅ All participants must complete the Mandatory Safety & Tool ID Mini-Series before joining this program. No exceptions.
Why? Because this isn’t pretend. These are real tools, real machines, and real risks. We don’t slow down the shop to explain what a ratchet is — we expect every crew member to show up ready to work safely.
🎓 Already enrolled in the Safety & Tool ID Mini-Series? Great — you’re on track.
💡 New to the program? Register for the Safety Mini-Series first. Once you complete it, you’ll earn your certificate and unlock access to the full build experience.
🧢 Want In?
Spots are limited. This isn’t a tour — it’s a build team. No experience needed — just commitment. You’ll walk away with skills, story, and your name on the build list.
🏁 Let’s build something loud enough for Cleetus to notice.
